Andrejev Galleries opened its doors for the first time to exhibit modernist and abstract art November 18, 2017 and we have been in business one full year and will celebrate with an Anniversary Exhibition and Party with live music Friday, November 16, 2018.
Abstraction is an open door. It is an invitation....to come play, so to speak. The rules are in front of you, there is size, shape, design and color and the paint itself. There are countless possibilities within each categorically. Some come from a pictorial origin like the Christiana’s in Gallery #3, some come from spontaneous expression like the Danella’s Gallery #1 and some come from a carefully planned visual concept like Elise Speights in Gallery #2.
Andrejev Galleries Is Open – The Mid-Century Art Experience
Why mid-century? As artists, curators and collectors ourselves, we like the two dominant midcentury currents, abstraction and surrealism. Fortunately, we have had access to a number of family estates of some terrific mid-century artists. For another, modernism, as diverse as it was, had a foundation in some universal positives. Not to live in the past, the future is here and it sure isn’t what was envisioned seventy years ago, however that there is good but limited midcentury art to see and to collect should remind us of better times. Knowing midcentury retro is trending today is okay, at our age we know it’s cool.
